Hornet of the Week: Damien Amador

The Flour Bluff Athletics Hornet of the Week is Damien Amador.  Damien is a Senior on the Hornet Men’s Varsity Basketball Team, for which he serves as the Team Captain. For his play on the court, Damien was awarded Second Team All-District in 2020 and was the District Defensive Player of the year in 2019.  In the classroom, Damien’s hard work has earned him membership in the National Honor Society. Damien was also named the 2020 Homecoming King.  He is a true representation of the Hornet characteristics of Class, Pride, and Heart.

What do you enjoy most about playing Basketball?

I love the competitiveness of basketball.  I also always liked the fact that every athlete is trying to better their opponent in every aspect of the game.

What is your favorite class?

My favorite class is Chemistry because there are so many new things that you can learn.

What type of volunteer work are you involved in within your community?

I volunteer at the Padre Island National Seashore every Sunday.  I also occasionally volunteer at St. Peter’s by the Sea and the Asian Culture Museum.

What are your plans after graduation?

After I graduate I plan to attend the University of Texas at Austin where I want to get a degree in environmental engineering.

What is your favorite basketball related movie?

My favorite movie that best relates to basketball is Air Bud.

What is your favorite food?

I can’t live without Whataburger.
