Girls Golf Advances to Regionals

After having their season cut short last year, Coach Chris Rodgers and the Hornet Golf Team had a great showing at the District Golf Tournament at Northshore Country Club.

The Hornet Girls Golf team took 2nd Place at the District Championship.   The team was led by Kaylie Chapa, who out put fort a nail biting effort to the last hole of the tournament.  Kaylie medaled in 3rd place after a firing 83 and 79 the second day.  Chapa finished two strokes shy of 1st Place.  Addie Sowles followed with solid rounds of 99/97, Lillie Lazenby 93/105, Sarah Yniguez 98/103 and Kate Yniguez rounded out the team with 119/99.  The Hornets finished with 4 golfers in the top 15.

The Boys finished 4th and put in a solid effort for the Championship.  Robert Cisneros led the squad with 93/90 along with Trent Carroll coming in with 93/92.  Nick Morris shot 98/102, Justin Garcia 103/104, and Lane Massey rounding out the team with 111/103.  Carroll and Cisneros both took home top 15 finishes.

The Hornet Girls Golf Team will advance to the Regional Tournament at the Hyatt Hill Country Club in San Antonio the week of April 19 – April 22.
