Bio: Bill moved to Flour Bluff with his family in 1968 when his dad was transferred to the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station while serving in the US Army. He arrived his sophomore year but didn’t play basketball until his junior and senior year. In 1969 he held the individual city record in leading scores for basketball for all high schools in Corpus Christi with a total of 669 points for one season. This was also a record for Flour Bluff High School. Under the leadership of coach Herbert Beard the Hornets won District and Zone Championships and fell short going to the State Championship.

After high school Bill received a scholarship to play basketball at Texas Lutheran College from 1970-1971. He enlisted in the Army in December 1972 and served his country for 20 years. His retirement in 1991 led him to his second career as a teacher. He taught at Flour Bluff Junior High for three years, Santa Gertrudis ISD for five years and then returned to Flour Bluff ISD from 2005 till his second retirement in 2013. During his last tenue at FBISD he was assistant principal at the high school, intermediate school and elementary school and retired as the Director of Instructional Technology for FBISD.  He married his high school sweetheart, Katy Spinks in 1971, also a 1971 FBHS graduate. They have three children, Rachel, Billy (Class of 1993), and Rick (Class of 1999) and 9 grandchildren.
