The Miller Buccaneers will travel to play against the Flour Bluff Hornets at Hornet Stadium on Friday October 19, 2018.
The Hornets are looking to continue their winning streak this week against Miller in the Bluffs’ Homecoming week. Miller is also looking to continue their winning streak as well. The Bucs will come to Hornet Stadium this Friday at 7:30 for the Flour Bluff Game of the Week and a game that has playoff implications for both teams.
The Miller Buccaneers are coming off of a 41-29 win over the King Mustangs. Miller has a very high-powered offense, winning by more that 25 points in the games that they have won, but it is questionable considering the teams they have played so far. Millers opponents have a combined record of 10-29. QB Andrew Body has over 2000 yards passing on the season already and 277 yards last game against King. RB Marcell Davis had 266 yards rushing and accounted for four TD’s against King as well. Some big players to watch are QB Andrew Body, RB Marcell Davis, and DB Zamori Nickels.
Flour Bluff is coming off of a 37-21 win over Victoria East. It was a rough start as the Hornets were only leading by three points going into halftime. The defense then produced a shutout during the second half to secure the victory. The Hornet defense has held all of their opponents to below their scoring average on the season. The Hornet offensive line is facing some injuries, so there will be some movement around both the defensive and offensive line this week. Sophomore RB Isaac Miles continues to be a huge part of the Hornet offense averaging 114 yards per game and six TD’s on the year. Senior QB Braden Sherron is averaging 186 yards per game and has 11 TD’s on the year. Senior WR/DB Kenny Whitehurst has also brought a lot to the Hornet offense, accounting for a large portion of the receiving yards and TD’s. Some big players to watch this week are RB Isaac Miles, WR/DB Kenny Whitehurst, LB Javaris Lawson, and DL Isaiah Alday.
The Flour Bluff Hornets Football games will be reported on by the Flour Bluff Sports Information Program. The Flour Bluff High Sports Information Program will also create a student produced video broadcast of all home games which will be posted here one hour after the game ends:
