Bio:
Coach Clynton Elwood, a San Antonio native, has devoted his career to Flour Bluff High School, shaping young athletes and building a legacy of leadership in the Hornet athletic program. A graduate of Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where he earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, Coach Elwood’s deep-rooted commitment to his community and his profession has made him an invaluable asset to the school.
Coach Elwood began his coaching career in 2004 as a Football and Track Assistant at San Antonio Southwest before joining the Flour Bluff team in 2009. Starting as the Linebackers Coach, he quickly took on more responsibilities, serving as Special Teams Coordinator and then Head Track Coach in 2012. His coaching expertise and dedication to athlete development led him to the role of Defensive Coordinator in 2014, a position he held until 2023. During this time, Coach Elwood was instrumental in building a cohesive and disciplined defensive unit that consistently excelled on the field.
In 2023, he was named Interim Athletic Director, and his effective leadership and dedication to Flour Bluff’s athletes earned him the role of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach in 2024. In his current position, Coach Elwood oversees the entire athletic program, fostering a supportive, challenging, and growth-oriented environment for both players and coaching staff. His commitment to excellence and his focus on teamwork, character, and resilience define his approach to coaching and athletic administration.
At home, Coach Elwood is supported by his wife, Stacy, and their three children: son Wyatt, and daughters Bailey and Brynlee. The Elwood family is deeply embedded in the Flour Bluff community, and Coach Elwood’s influence extends far beyond the football field. He is a mentor, a role model, and a trusted leader whose impact resonates throughout Flour Bluff High School and the larger community.
