The Flour Bluff Athletics Hornet of the Week is KayLee Schmidt. KayLee has attended Flour Bluff ISD her entire academic career. She is a member of the District Champion Lady Hornet Track and Field Team, and she is an Area Qualifier in the 4×100 and 4×200 Relays. Off the field, KayLee is working toward being a Phlebotomy and EKG Technician. When not running and studying, KayLee is also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and volunteers at her church. She is the epitome of the Hornet characteristics of Class, Pride, and Heart.
What do you enjoy most running track?
I like the adrenaline rush.
Do you have any pre-race rituals?
Before every race I warm up as much as possible and get in my zone.
What is your favorite class?
My favorite class is Patient Care Technician.
What is your favorite sports related movie?
My favorite movie is Soul Surfer.
Do you have a favorite quote you live by?
The quote I like to live by is “work so hard until you walk into a room and you don’t have to introduce yourself.”
What song best describes you or is the soundtrack to your life?
I like to listen to anything by Queen.
What is your favorite food?
I like Mandarin oranges.
Do you have any special talents or is there something surprising about you that others might not know about you?
Something that not many people know about me is I’m actually an old soul. I have about 75 original records, ranging from Queen to George Strait.
