This week’s Hornet of the Week is Sami Wright. Sami is an outstanding superstar on the Flour Bluff Varsity Tennis Team. Sami is a prime example of Class, Pride, Heart.

What do you enjoy most about playing Tennis?

I enjoy how dynamic it gets in doubles and how working together and trying out different strategies (with varying degrees of success) brings us closer as a team.

Do you have any pre-match rituals?

Before any match, I try to drink an oat milk latte to keep me awake, but the routine I always stick to is listening through a very specific playlist I made to get me hyped before the matches.

What is your favorite sports-related movie?

My favorite movie is Space Jam. The original as well as the new one

What type of volunteer work are you involved in within your community?

I volunteered with the Coastal Bend Food Bank over the summer, and I’m currently volunteering through the Interact Club. I’m hoping to start volunteering at the Botanical Gardens soon!

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on going to college to study Journalism and Environmental Studies.

Is there anything else you would like to say about yourself?

I’m very honored to have been interviewed as the hornet of the week, and I can’t wait to see how my team and I grow throughout the rest of the fall and spring season. Go Hornets!
