Just before this holiday season, a group of girls who value team first went out and gave back to the community. “Our community supports us so we wanted to give back” senior Olivia Cerna explained. This isn’t the first year the Lady Hornets have helped in such a special way. Last September, after Hurricane Harvey the ladies helped our Coastal Bend neighbors Port Aransas, Rockport, and Aransas Pass. The lady hornets were motivated even more to give a helping hand and help those in need. “We were motivated and wanted to do more and help our community.” Senior Taylor Jackson added. Head coach Mario Lopez proud that his team goes out in the community help others. “We have a great group of girls from the older ones to the younger ones we are always really lucky to have a great group of kids” Lopez said.

On December 12th the ladies and the Track team went to Timion’s ministry and donated 100 hygiene kits and 200 pairs of socks to families in need. “Doing all of this together makes us a whole a team then that bond with one another will play a role in a game.” senior Heavenlee Soliz explains. The Lady Hornet soccer team bringing class, pride, and heart to a higher level during the holiday season.

On December 15th, the lady hornets went to the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery to set out wreaths for our fallen heroes. “It was great to help out and show our support for those who fought for our country and to help out our community that supports us.” Cerna detailed. Senior Kaya Smiling said “It was amazing helping out and honoring our Veterans.” The Lady Hornets have been going the extra mile this holiday season and enjoying every second of it. “It adds to the overall big picture, all the giving back we’ve done and the hard work feels amazing put a smile on people faces.” Jackson said.
