The Hornet Boys and Girls Golf Teams showed class, pride and heart at the District 29-5A Tournament. Both teams won first place at the the tournament, which took place at the Laredo Country Club.  Both the Girls and Boys claimed a district title for the second year in a row.  This qualifies both teams for Regional Tournament at Palm View Golf Course in McAllen in two weeks.

The Boys team was led by the 1st Place overall Medalist, Ethan Ming, who came out firing with a 73, 86 for both days.  2nd Place Medalist, Jaymin Delafuente followed with a strong 83,79, Kamron Snodgrass shot two solid rounds of 84’s and Carson Gulley rounded out the team scoring, with a great first day round of 82 followed with a 93.  Cole Miller carded two 90’s and just missed being a regional qualifier by 2 strokes.

The Girls team came out with the same tenacity with 1st Place Medalist Katie Habib shooting her best two day scores of 78 and 81.  Kaylie Chapa followed with two great rounds of 84,85, with Valentina Torres right behind her shooting 85 and 89.  Senior Jill Zimmerman finished with formidable scores of 100, 97 and Ferrell Tugman completed the team scoring with impressive rounds of 101 and 97.  Sarah Yniguez qualified as regional finalist shooting 102,100.

 

Your district Chamion Flour Bluff Golf Teams finished a great year with solid play at the Regional Golf Tournament at Palm View Golf Course in McAllen this week, with the Girls finishing in 6th and the Boys in 8th out of field of 16 teams.

The girls were led by Valentina Torres, who was tied as the 10th overall Medalist, shooting two amazing rounds of 80/82.  Katelyn Habib followed with solid rounds of 91/84 and Kaylie Chapa finished the tournament with scores of 94/90.  Jill Zimmerman rounded out the team scores with of 93/95, and Ferrell Tugman came in at 96/100, their best scores of the year at Palm View.

The Boys team was led by 6th Place overall Medalist Ethan Ming, who came out on fire with scores of 78 and 74 qualifying him for State!  Jaymin Delafuente followed with a pair of impressive rounds of 81, John Chapa solid scores of 86/84 and Cole Miller finished with steady scores of 85/90.  Kamron Snodgrass rounded out the team shooting 88 and 92 for the tournament.
