The Hornet of the Week is awarded to Flour Bluff Student-Athletes who exhibit Class, Pride, and Heart on and off the athletic field. This award recognizes Student-Athletes who are well-rounded representations of what Hornet Student-Athletes should be.

The Hornet of the Week is two sport star Emily Long.  Emily is a member of the Lady Hornet Basketball Team and Track and Field Team.  In addition to her involvement in athletics, Emily is a top notch student and a member of the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society. Emily volunteers at the Glenoak Therapeutic Riding Center where she teaches horseback riding lessons.  After graduation, Emily plans on going to college and studying to be a veterinarian.  Emily is a true model of the Hornet characteristics of Class, Pride, and Heart.
