The Flour Bluff Athletics Hornet of the Week is Kaylie Rodriguez.  Kaylie is a Senior Team Captain on the Lady Hornet Soccer Team.  She has been awarded for her leadership and playing ability by being named Defensive MVP of the District and First Team All-South Texas.  Off the field, Kaylie is an excellent student who ranks in the top ten percent of her class.  She is also active in the National Honor Society and the Key Club.  Kaylie exemplifies the Hornet characteristics of Class, Pride, and Heart.

What do you enjoy most about playing sports?

I enjoy playing a sports at Flour Bluff because it is like being a part of a family, not only within your own sport, but with all the sports. I love that everything anyone does is done with Class, Pride, and Heart, and this translates both on the field and in the classroom.

What is your favorite class?

My favorite class is my OnRamps Chemistry class with Mrs. Aggus.

Who has the best nickname on the team, and what is it?

I would have say Morgan has the best nickname on the team, which is MorCAN. Morgan is our goalkeeper, and we love to hype her up and cheer her on in practice and in games.

What type of volunteer work are you involved in within your community?

Every Wednesday I volunteer with the middle school aged children at my church. I am also involved in Key Club and NHS.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to attend a college and graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Do you have a favorite soccer team? 

My favorite team is the USA Women’s National Soccer team.

What song best describes you or is the soundtrack to your life?

I like to listen to the soundtrack Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite foods are pasta and sushi.
