The Flour Bluff Athletic Hornet of the Week is Rachel Huang a Senior on the Hornet Swimming and Diving Team. A three time State Meet Qualifier, Rachel was also named the 2020 Girl’s Regional Swimmer of the Meet . Rachel also has made splashes out of the pool as she has been named Academic All State, National Merit Scholar Semifinalist, and she is a member of the Girls Go CyberStart National Championship Qualifying Team. Rachel is the epitome of the Hornet characteristics of Class, Pride, and Heart.
What do you enjoy most about Swimming?
We’re all each other’s greatest competitors and greatest cheerleaders.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
The night before a meet, I make sure to brush my teeth, floss, and mouth wash super well because having an extra clean mouth makes me feel faster in the water.
What is your favorite class?
I have three favorites: Computer Science, Chemistry, and English.
What type of volunteer work are you involved in within your community?
Last summer I was a plant care volunteer at the Botanical Gardens.
Do you have any special talents, or is there something surprising about you that others might not know about you?
I can very convincingly do that trick where you remove half of your thumb.

In the wider world, there is a sky beyond the sky. There are people more talented than oneself.
