The Flour Bluff Athletics Hornet of the Week is Xavier Pon. Xavier is a four-year member of the Flour Bluff Sports Information Program, in which he serves as the lead announcer for Flour Bluff Athletic Events.  As a founding member of the Sports Information Program, Pon helped build the Sports Information Program into a state recognized innovative Bragging Rights program by the Texas Association of School Administrators.  Xavier has been a commentator, producer, and camera operator for four years for Flour Bluff Athletics.  He could be heard on the Radio and Live Streams of Flour Bluff Football for the last few years, including calling his iconic final play during the Regional Final game during the 2021 Season.  

His experience with the Flour Bluff Sports Information Program has opened doors for Xavier.  He has called Division I NCAA games for Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.  In addition, he is in his second year as an official MLB scorer for the Corpus Christi Hooks.  

Xavier is an outstanding person who has done amazing work in and out of the classroom.  In addition to his work for Flour Bluff Athletics, he maintains excellent grades and is also a member of the UIL Film Team, where his narrative documentary entry for the UIL Film Team advanced to the 2nd round of competition this school year. 

Xavier also is very active in the Flour Bluff High School Theater Program.  He serves as Treasurer of the Flour Bluff Thespian Society.  His love for performing on stage resulted in him being awarded District All Star Cast Member in 2021 and 2022.   

Xavier’s passion for performing, teaching others, and sports have been true assets and have tremendously benefited Hornet Nation. Xavier shows the true embodiment of the Hornet charactersistics of Class, Pride, and Heart.
