The Flour Bluff Athletics Hornet of the Week is Sophie Campbell. Sophie is a Senior Infielder and Team Captain of the Hornet Softball Team. Her accolades on the diamond include being named 2nd Team All District, All-South Texas Honorable Mention, Gold Glove Award, and Hooks Preseason All-Star Award. Off the diamond, she has been named Academic All District for her hard work in the classroom. Sophie has committed to play Softball at the next level at the University of Texas – San Antonio. Sophie is a model of the Flour Bluff values of Class, Pride, and Heart.
I love the game of softball! I love the competitiveness, the hustle, my teammates, the wins, and the life lessons that I have learned throughout playing this sport. Every time I step on the field I am happy and enjoy every second of it!
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Before every home game, me and a couple of my teammates go to Chick-fil-A to eat.
What is your favorite sports movie?
My favorite sports related movie is “The Benchwarmers” or “A League of their Own”.
Do you have a favorite Pro team?
My favorite MLB team is The Houston Astros.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be attending UTSA to further my academics. I have the opportunity to play softball for the Roadrunners!
