The Flour Bluff Athletics Hornet of the Week is Van Cooper. Van is a Senior Leader on the Hornet Boys Soccer Team.   On the field, Van is a tenacious defender who was awarded Second Team All-District in 2021.  Van is just as hard working off the field.  Academically, Van is ranked in the top ten in the 2022 Senior Class.  Van’s effort in the classroom has earned him Academic All State Honors, membership in the National Honor Society and acceptance to Texas A&M University. He is also a member of the Flour Bluff High School Science Olympiad team.  He is a true model of the Hornet characteristics of Class, Pride, and Heart.

What do you enjoy most about playing this sport?

It’s like playing with a second family.  I get to hang with guys I might not have met without soccer.

Do you have any pre game rituals?

I always like to take some time for myself together my self for the game and play ping pong.

What is your favorite class?

My favorite class is History Through Film with Coach Siebert.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on going to College Station to study Engineering at Texas A&M University.
