The Flour Bluff Tennis Team, led by longtime Head Coach Steve Bonds and Assistant Coach Jacque Bonds, made school history this season with an unforgettable run to the UIL State Team Tennis Tournament, the program’s first-ever appearance at the state level.
The Hornets began their journey by capturing the Region IV-5A Championship with a 10–8 victory over Boerne. This hard-fought win secured their spot in the state tournament and marked a significant milestone for the program.
Competing in Waco at Baylor University’s Hurd Tennis Center and the Waco Regional Tennis Center, the Hornets played impressively. In the 5A State Semifinals, Flour Bluff swept College Station A&M Consolidated 10–0, advancing to the State Finals in commanding fashion. The team went on to face Frisco Centennial, finishing as State Runner-Up after a hard-fought championship match.
This season was one for the record books. The Hornets posted the best record in school history with 26 wins and 1 loss, captured their third consecutive District Championship, and represented Flour Bluff with exceptional effort, teamwork, and composure.
Under the leadership of Steve Bonds, now in his 23rd year, Flour Bluff Tennis has grown into one of the state’s top programs, with this season marking a historic milestone for the Hornets
