Flour Bluff Athletics featured Game of the Week is the district Flour Bluff Girls’ Basketball showdown against district rival Tuloso Midway. The game tips off at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. These two teams have met numerous times in the playoffs with the Cherokees having a 2-1 edge overall. This heavyweight bout will include returning starters from last season’s region quarterfinal game in which the Lady Hornets won 58-33. Starters from that game will include Jayde Tschritter, Hayle Campbell, Maegan Bazan, and Gloria Guerin. Key winning components to Friday night’s game will be ball control and defense as the Lady Hornets battle it out against a Tuloso Midway team that ranks in the top 25 in the Texas Girls’ Coaches Association poll. The battle between these two Coastal Bend powerhouses should be a classic.

Flour Bluff Boys’ Basketball is coming out of a tough non-district schedule and sitting at a 10-6 record after beating a stout Port Aransas squad 55-48. The Boy’s will also be facing a well-coached Tuloso Midway team on Friday. In the past, the Hornets have pulled off several major wins against the Warriors. Both Flour Bluff teams will play Laredo Martin Tuesday with the Lady Hornets at home and the Hornets in Laredo. Both games begin at 7:00 pm.
